PAYMENT QUESTIONS
How do I pay?
It is preferred that customers pay with Paypal, which accepts Visa, Mastercard and e-Checks. This way you are using a third party processing company and you will have the safety of a reputable company handling the transaction. Paypal is extremely secure and is used worldwide with millions and millions of members! Paypal using a secure database to hold your credit card and bank information that you provide that I don’t have access to. This protects you from fraud and gives you some peace of mind! You do not need to sign up to Paypal to use the service if you are only making payments.
I will also accept cash, but understand that this would be at your own risk. Please conceal it very well. For the address to send this to, please email me! Also make sure to send your order details along with your payment. I will need:
- fabric choice
- fabric width
- type of item (step-in harness, standard harness, collar, leash, etc)
- size or custom measurements
- hardware choice (black, pink or white plastic, metal)
- your return address for shipping!
I also regularly attend pet events around Toronto and sometimes outside of the city, so check my events page for where you can find us! I will accept cash, credit and debit at these events.
What currency do you accept?
Ordering from the website is in Canadian dollars. For American customers, message me and I can provide you with an invoice in the equivalent US funds.
SHOPPING
Why does my item look differently than the picture on your website?
All Peachy Keen Pets are handmade, and therefore are completely original! Each print is different and some are so colourful and have variations all through the fabric, it’s often impossible to make a perfect duplicate. If there is a part of the design you like best, just email me and let me know and I’ll make sure that part is included when I make it.
I want a harness, but don’t know if my dog should have a step-in or standard harness. What do you suggest? If I use a collar, do you recommend I switch to a harness?
Most dogs that are very strong pullers do better with step-in style harnesses. Also some rescued dogs have fear of something going over their head, and don’t respond well to a standard style.
Often the decision comes down to what you like the look of, because most dogs will be very comfortable in both styles. Neither style puts stress on the neck, which is much more comfortable for your pet!
If you use a collar and are considering a harness, this is always a personal choice. I often recommend a harness in most cases because it is more comfortable for the pet, is more secure, and for dogs like pugs and other hard-breathing breeds, stress around the neck can cause problems down the road for your pet.
As always, if you have specific questions regarding the suitability of one of my products for your pet, email me and we can chat about it!
I don’t know what to choose when it comes to hardware and thickness of width for my item! Can you help?
I am always happy to suggest what looks best together, or what thickness is best for certain breeds of dogs. For instance, I always prefer the thickest width that makes sense for each type of dog to get the most comfortable item possible! My pugs have 1 inch straps for their thick bodies, but Chihuahuas should stick with 1/2 inch or 5/8 inches so they can move comfortably. Dogs with long, lean necks, like greyhounds, would do well with 1 ½ inch collars. With so many options, I would love to help you make the best decision for you dog!
Can I order an item for my cat, rabbit or ferret?
Of course! As long as I have correct measurements, I can make a harness and leash for most pets. If your item is for one of these animals, just let me know ahead of time, and I will make sure the width of straps are appropriate. These animals generally require the thinnest width available, which is ½ inch.
How long will my item last?
This differs from pet to pet. All animals wear things out at different rates and it’s impossible to say. If your dog is older and just wears their items when they go for a walk or to the park, it will last much longer than a dog that pulls a lot, rolls around in the dirt and mud, or swims often. Please check the products on a regular basis for signs of wear, and be responsible when you start to see damage.
My pugs are pretty easy on their items but I choose webbing-only harnesses when they swim and don’t use their Peachy Keen ones. This will prolong life expectancy for sure.
What is your return/exchange policy?
Because most items are specifically customized to your tastes, there are no refunds. Please be very careful that your measurements are accurate before you submit your order. Ask lots of questions and be certain you are ordering the correct fabric and hardware!
If you are in Canada and absolutely want to try items on to see what suits your pet the best, check the events section and come to a Pugalug or craft event! I take custom orders at these events as well as bring some pre-made selections. Peachy Keen Pets will also be available in stores soon.
OTHER QUESTIONS:
What is the best way to wash my harness/leash/collar? Can I iron it?
The best way to clean these products is hand washing in cold water and drying on a line (or shower rod), and even washing in the top rack of the dishwasher is okay! Putting them in a delicates bag in the washing machine on a delicate cycle is fine, and air fluff in the dryer will be okay. I recommend putting the items in a pillowcase or something soft so that the metal hardware will not scrape and bang in the dryer.
Yes, you can iron any Peachy Keen Pet item! Make sure you remove tags and charms before washing and ironing.
**If your pet swims frequently, cotton products such as these can develop an odor. The best way to remove this is to soak the product in cold water with a tablespoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of antibacterial hand soap. Once that is done, rinse thoroughly and wash as usual.
